Organizational Studies

Organizational Studies Stream

(Formerly Human Resources)

Organizational Studies prepares you for more than just a designation! Many of us work for 40 years or more in organizations and most of us interact daily with organizations as students, workers, clients, investors, and citizens.

Organizational studies invites you to examine, understand, and compare various forms of organizations and analyze the behaviour of the people who create, interact with and inhabit those organizations.  Organizations, whether public or private, for profit, or not-for-profit, play a central role in determining the quality of life for individuals and societies.  ORGS BBA student

If you choose Organizational Studies you can concentrate on both traditional human resources subjects that focus on the relationships between employers and employees and also the emerging focus on the relationships between organizations and societies.  You also will have the opportunity to become involved in work placements and conducting research.

Career paths include human resources management, training and development, labour relations, benefits administration, general management, and policy research and development in both the public and private sectors.

You can gear your studies towards obtaining a designation in this field by selecting courses accredited by the HRPAO (Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario) which lead to the CHRP designation. For a list of the accredited courses offered by Nipissing University's SBE for this designation and a suggested placement of these courses within your program of study please click here.
