Behm, Church and Tait named OUA All Stars
NORTH BAY, ON – November 2, 2009 – The Nipissing Lady Lakers soccer team was well represented as three players were named all stars as the OUA handed out its’ annual hardware.
Lady Lakers keeper Sam Behm (Winchester, ON) was named a first team all star while Leesa Church and Kim Tait were named second team all stars.
Behm played in 16 games (including exhibition) and accumulated a 6-7-3 record with a 1.75 goals against average collecting four shutouts along the way.
"Sam is a brilliant keeper,” said head coach Vito Castiglione. “She is fearless and a great shot blocker.”
Church (North Bay, ON) in her second season with the Lakers had a strong second half of the season and finished the season with seven goals playing both the striker and midfield positions. Castiglione stated that Church is a great leader on and off the field.
Tait (Peterborough, ON) a third year defender is always involved in the play and challenges every ball. “Kim had a great season for us. She is very committed and plays the game with passion.” added Castilgione.
Other awards handed out included: Most Valuable Player –Renee McLellan (Queen’s), Rookie of the Year – Riley Filion (Queen's), Community Service – Jennifer Siu (Toronto) and the Coach of the Year – Dave McDowell (Queen’s)
