Nyangado, Raposo and Clarke named OUA Soccer All Stars
NORTH BAY, ON – November 2, 2009 – The Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team was well represented as three players were named all stars as the OUA handed out its’ annual hardware.
Andrew Clarke, Sean Raposo and Mohammed Nyangado all received second team all star awards.
Clarke (Newmarket, ON) a fifth year veteran defender was an obvious impact player for the Lakers as he was forced to sit out the second half of the season due to a knee injury. According to head coach Tony D’Agostino Clarke is a true team player that puts the team goals ahead of his personal goals.
Raposo (Brampton,ON) a third year defender is a physical presence on the pitch and plays the game with a keen insight. “He is perhaps one of the most intelligent players we have had at Nipissing.” said D’Agostino.
Nyangado (Latin Kunda, KMC) a forth year midfielder received his second all star award in as many years. “He is a true field general and a technically gifted player. He demands the ball at all times and has great vision of the pitch.” added D’Agostino.
Other awards handed out included: Most Valuable Player – Alex Braletic (Ryerson), Rookie of the Year – Michael Jan (Ryerson), Community Service – Anthony Volpe (Ryerson), Coach of the Year – Carlo Castrechino (Laurentian)
