The Concurrent Education program at our Brantford Campus is offered in partnership with Laurier Brantford. Graduates receive an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Society, Culture & Environment from Laurier Brantford and a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing.
Nipissing University's Bachelor of Education (BEd) program was one of the first pre-service teacher education programs to be fully accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) and is one of the most well recognized Education programs in the province.
As of September 2015, the Bachelor of Education (BEd) program will be a two-year full-time professional program that meets the requirements of the Ontario College of Teachers for teacher certification (Certificate of Qualification). It is open to applicants presenting proof of graduation with an approved undergraduate degree from an accredited university. The program provided by the Schulich School of Education is rigorous and demands a high degree of commitment. To be successful, a student must display a sensitivity to pupils, a sense of responsibility to the teaching profession, and a respect for knowledge.
The Faculties of Arts and Science, and Applied and Professional Studies, in conjunction with the Schulich School of Education, offer a Concurrent Education program leading to an honours undergraduate degree in your discipline of choice (except Nursing) and a Bachelor of Education degree. All three divisions will be available to students (Primary/Junior, Junior/Intermediate and Intermediate/Senior).
Concurrent Education is offered both at the North Bay Campus and the Muskoka Campus. Muskoka students will complete the final two years of their Education degree on the North Bay Campus.
