Dean's Message

Dean's Message

Now in our second century of teacher education in North Bay, we continue our tradition of creating and extending a learning environment that fosters a professional community for those who wish to obtain a degree in education.

The Nipissing University community takes learning beyond schools and directs students to become actively involved in the world as participants whose knowledge and skills are valued. In short, the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University takes seriously the notion that if one wishes to learn how to be in the world, one should participate in it.

At Nipissing, you will develop the critical thinking, humane values and the practical skills necessary to become a teacher and lifelong learner. In addition, our many vibrant programs provide opportunities for those not directly involved in schools to develop and refine their understanding of teaching and learning in alternative settings.

As a student in the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University, you join a tradition of excellence that began as a teachers’ college over a hundred years ago and continues to inform policy and practice in teacher education and in the wider community. We look forward to working with you as you grow into your profession.
