Welcome to the Faculty of Arts and Science at Nipissing University.
At the main entrance of our campus you will find the mace of Nipissing University and the coat of arms. Both the mace and the coat of arms speak to the values and traditions Nipissing University was founded on. The mace expresses "growth, movement and perpetuity." In our coat of arms, the word "Integritas" stands for "the desirable mode of human conduct and intellectual inquiry." The Athenian owl represents seeing the world as it is.
The Faculty of Arts and Science embodies all of these values in each of its programs to make sure that our students are able to think creatively, sort through immense amounts of information, write clearly and work collaboratively, and most of all, engage fully with the modern world.
We offer programs and courses spanning humanities, sciences and social sciences, and we take great pride in providing opportunities for our students to follow their passion and curiosity as well as gain hands-on experience. By their graduating years, students are leading seminars, working in labs, designing experiments, and working on projects with our community partners, under the careful guidance of the Faculty.
The Faculty of Arts and Science is dynamic and vibrant. Our faculty take on many challenges to bring insight and understanding to problems concerning a diverse set of issues: local, global, historical, economic, social, environmental, computational, mathematical, and scientific. Our faculty and staff work together to provide the best educational experience for our students. Whatever your own interests and aspirations might be, you will benefit from this community of peers and inquisitive minds working together to provide a supportive environment in which you can realize your potential.
I invite you to join the Faculty of Arts and Science community at Nipissing. If you have questions about the Faculty of Arts and Science after visiting our website, the faculty and staff in our departments, schools, and administrative units will be pleased to help you. Come and visit us.
