Social Welfare & Social Development

You are concerned about your community, both local and global.  You want to empower people and enrich the lives of others.  You want to change the world but you’re not sure how.  As a Social Welfare and Social Development student, you will build on social justice work that has been undertaken in such areas as poverty, women’s rights, health care, unemployment and Aboriginal rights.

In the first year, you will examine the social, economic and political context of social development and social well-being and the role that social welfare plays in Canada and in other nations.

Our students secure positions with human service agencies, government, advocacy groups and self-help groups.  They also pursue further studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels in areas such as education and social work.
