Students interested in obtaining professional designations or accreditations in addition to their degree have many options depending on their area of interest. The exceptional quality of our program can lead to designations and accreditations with many different organizations, including:

Accounting Designations

Nipissing University offers all of the required courses for the three accounting designations (CA, CGA, and CMA).  Nipissing University’s BBA accounting students are provided with advance standing by the designations.  This enables our students to directly enroll as a student member of the designation associations upon graduation.  Students will then complete the practical experience and the specific professional examination requirements in order to qualify for their designation.

Chartered Accountants (CA) who master the accounting principles and auditing standards taught in this designation, and pass their Uniform Evaluation (UFE) exam, are the backbone of accounting firms.  CA’s can be found holding the top positions in major corporations and can also work their way towards specializing in tax and forensic accounting.

Certified Management Accountants (CMA) use their expertise and insights to help businesses of all sizes grow.  Aside from having the necessary financial reporting skills, accountants with this designation have also developed the strategic financial management skills needed to provide a company with direction and leadership.

Certified General Accountants (CGA) specialize in accounting and finance management, and can easily find careers in the public and private sector, government, and not-for-profit organizations.

Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP)

Students who complete Human Resources courses through the Nipissing University School of Business can count these courses towards the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) coursework requirements as set by the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA), and if they choose, the students can also put the course credits towards a degree.

Students of Nipissing University’s School of Business degree programs will meet and exceed the coursework requirements set by HRPA for CHRP designation. Once the coursework and degree requirements are met and the student is an HRPA member, he or she is eligible to write the National Knowledge Exam. Students will also need to meet the experience requirement set by HRPA, specifically 3 years of Human Resources experience at a professional level.
