As a student at Nipissing University, you are covered in a health plan provided by ACL Student Benefits. Please check out this link for more details: (https://wespeakstudent.com/home/13-nipissing-university). There are three separate plans that ACL offers and all students are automatically enrolled in the default plan. You may switch to either of the plans at no cost during the month of September, but as of October, you are locked into the chosen plan.
If you already have health coverage elsewhere, you may opt-out of the health plan. To do so, you will need to provide proof of insurance. Send your proof of insurance to ACL Student Benefits and sign up to have your health plan fee reimbursed to you through direct deposit. If you have any questions about he process, you can speak to someone 24/7 on the live chat at www.wespeakstudent.com or you can contact VP Communications at firstname.lastname@example.org.
One of the easiest ways to get involved on campus is to volunteer with NUSU. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available, some of which are geared towards awareness campaigns such as Movember, and some of which are focused on events such as Halloween Haunt or Frostbite. Our group of volunteers is called the NUSU Crew and all members get a t-shirt and verficiation of hours volunteered, as well as the chance to win other small prizes based on their number of hours volunteering.
We also have applications that go out in the Winter semester for students to try out to be Frosh Leaders. Our leaders are a group of dedicated individuals who volunteer their time at the beginning of the academic year to assist first year students in their transition to Nipissing University. If you wish to try out for one of our leader positions, watch for the application in the winter semester!
If you ever wish to make an appeal or petition to the University, contact VP Governance & Legal Affairs if you have any questions or concerns regarding your appeal/petition. You can email email@example.com.
To set up a club, stop by the NUSU Office for more information or contact VP Services at firstname.lastname@example.org. NUSU also has a budget line dedicated to club funding so make sure to grab a form, fill it out and request funding for your club and club’s events.
