Information for new students

A message to new students from the Aboriginal Services staff:

Boozhoo!

We are honoured to be part of your university experience, and we want to welcome you to Nipissing University. The Nipissing University Aboriginal student community is a warm and friendly bunch. We enjoy laughter and warm bannock. We honour each other's life experiences and welcome you to join in our family.

As Student Success Coordinator and Manager of Aboriginal Services, we are dedicated to helping you achieve success in your studies by providing personal and academic support. We can also show you around the university, help you find resources, send a fax to your band, answer any questions or help with any requests you may have. In addition, we are responsible for organizing many social and educational activities and workshops throughout the year, so keep your eyes out for our newsletter and check the calendar for more information about upcoming events.

Know that our doors are always open (Room A220). Please stop by if there is anything you feel we can help you with; or just drop in to say hello. If you haven't already received your Student Handboook, please drop by to pick one up.  We hope you enjoy your years here and invite you to make the Aboriginal Student Lounge your home away from home.

Good luck in your studies!

Sincerely,
Erin Dokis and Doug Dokis
