Community Liaison

Aboriginal Services and Programs staff liaise with Aboriginal communities and organizations. We promote post-secondary education for Aboriginal youth and adults. We share information about Nipissing University's academics and support programs. Whenever possible, we attend community career fairs in Aboriginal communities and other larger events across Ontario and Quebec. hockey

"Aiming Higher" is a recruitment project for Aboriginal youth designed to allow them to experience life as a university student first-hand.

  • Youth are invited on campus for a campus tour. This includes a tour of the library, theatre-style classrooms, lunch in the cafeteria and of course a visit to the Aboriginal Student Lounge, Nei Kah Nahn which means "Our Home" in Cree.
  • Youth are matched with a university student in a program of their choice and have

the opportunity to attend two university lectures.

  • Youth attend a career symposium either in their home community or at the Nipissing

           University campus in the fall.

If your school or group of youth are interested in the "Aiming Higher" experience, please

give our office a call.

Nipissing University's Aboriginal Services and Programs offer a balanced approach to post secondary education that supports the physical, mental, spiritual and cultural aspects of life. We are here to provide you with personal assistance, a comfortable and relaxed learning environment or simply a listening ear.
